A barrel cactus is basically a ball or cylinder shaped cactus that gets a lot of attention due to its chunky build, pointy spines & a ribbed surface all over. You will find often in desert regions & people love as an indoor/outdoor ornamental because of the way they look & also because they dont need much looking after. Some of these cacti produce some pretty bright flowers at the top too, just to make them look even more pretty.

The Barrel cactus love basking in the sun & prefer to be potted in some good quality cactus or succulent soil, with drainage, of course. And the watering part - you shouldnt go watering it all the time. Only give it a drink when the soil is bone dry, otherwise you might end up with root rot.

When it comes to conditions this cactus prefers warm weather & dry air. Since its got water storage in its body it can get by just fine without watering for a while. Look after it in a basic way & a barrel cactus will live a pretty long life & make a great addition to your indoor or outdoor suculent collection.
